The colors achieved at EIY are all non-toxic Earth pigments obtained from plant or mineral sources. They are small-batch dyed using low-water, low-energy methods. Most fabrics are dyed using a modified Japanese method. Instead of toxic heavy metals that are required in most contemporary permanent dyes, this method uses only organic soybean powder. The Madder root dye is extracted and bonded to the fabrics using a fermentation process that can take as little as 3 days, or up to a month to create the desired color saturation.

Please Note that the actual color may vary due to variations in computer screens, and each dye bath comes out a little differently; this is the beauty of natural, non-toxic dyes.

contact Emily to see if your sheets, bags, clothing, etc is eligible to be revived & customized with non-toxic Earth-Pigments. . . some guidelines:

  • must be white or very pale pastel for the full pigment color to read on the fabric

  • stains must be removed & fabric full cleaned by the owner prior to sending in for customization

  • must be a natural fiber: cotton, linen, bamboo, wool, soy, some rayons
