The sounds of EIY are created by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Emily Peters. The vibrations she makes are an exploration of texture and weight, existence and space. They investigate the essence of life and living. They journey through the seen and unseen.
The sounds of EIY are an experience to be felt, touched, seen, as well as heard.
Inspirations . . . the things breathing life into EIY include a lifetime in body-centered practices like yoga, dance, free movement, indigenous massage practices such as Thai, Thaiatsu, and Lomi Lomi. Herbalism, horticulture, astronomy, astrology and breathing practices also feed the sounds of EIY. To support EiY’s herbalism practice visit the Pitanga Grove Apothecary Menu.
Emily creates and produces her sounds in Miami, Florida with her voice, acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonium, synthesizers, shakers, rattles and found objects. She also creates mantra and new age music as Sat Sukh, and creates sustainable clothing, jewelry, and art pieces where she plays with and investigates . . .

A Designer, Artist, and Singer. A maker. An Artisan. Emily Peters creates without boundaries in the direction of her true authentic expression. Originally, EIY was born in 2009 as a small art-to-wear jewelry house. As EIY grew over the years into a full artisan workshop with in-house sustainable and non-toxic reclaimed fabric dyeing, designing, pattern-making, and stitching, Emily’s intentions have remained and strengthened towards sustainability and regenerative living. Every move she makes is with the consideration of the delicate balance of our Earth’s ecosystems and its people. Emily knows that things of beauty can hold and carry function, while also protecting the planet and its inhabitants.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Clothing Design, with a dual minor in Fine Art and Retail Merchandising from the University of Minnesota at Twin Cities; her internship was with DadaDress. Her studies brought a full merger of art, craft, and technical skills.
In fact, merger is probably the single most adequate word for Emily’s work. Her deep interest and bottomless study in music, and in yogic and meditation arts have been a major influence in her artistic expression. The rhythm, melody and shape of music can be seen in all of her visual works. Many of the geometric shapes in her accessories are a direct translation of musical pieces. Yoga and meditation have shaped her life and form of mind since young adulthood, and the influence of the rich cultures, languages, and ways of holistically viewing the world can also be clearly seen in her works.
Each focus - art, design, song, and yoga - interweaves together to create a most beautiful, simple, peaceful and broad body of works across all of her chosen mediums of expression.
